Most AA applicants take the GRE. Almost nothing written about it tells you what it really costs or how long the process takes.

  • Full structure and section timings
  • What it really costs, including the $100 fee reduction
  • Why there is no single CASAA institution code
  • Official free prep, and when to use each one

Advocacy

Learning to defend the profession

You will get asked about this profession before you are ever admitted to it. In a shadowing shift, in an interview, in a comment section, by a nurse anesthetist, by your own family. Knowing how to answer well is part of the job, and almost nobody teaches it.

Adrienne built the advocacy resources below on her own site, SLP to CAA. We are linking rather than rewriting because they are already the most useful thing we know of on this subject, and they are hers.

01

How to answer the myths

A five-step framework for correcting misinformation without putting the other person on the defensive, built on the communication science Adrienne works in professionally.

  • The VOICE framework: validate, own the misconception, identify the root cause, cite evidence, end with inclusion
  • A fill-in-the-blank response template for social media, conversations and clinical settings
  • Five common myths answered with sourced evidence, including "the profession is dying" and the competency and training comparisons
  • Why each myth persists psychologically, not just why it is wrong
  • A full citation list from ASA and AAAA statements and peer-reviewed studies

02

Contacting your representatives

Where the profession actually moves. A walkthrough for writing to your own federal representatives, with a draft you edit rather than a blank page.

  • A pre-written message you adapt in your own words
  • A lookup that finds your representatives from your address
  • Direct links to the official House and Senate contact directories
  • Covers federal representatives only — state-level practice acts are a separate fight
Take action →

One honest note. The Take Action page asks for your name and address so it can find the right representatives for you. Adrienne's site states it does not submit, store or transmit your message — you send it yourself through the official government forms. Read that for yourself before you enter anything, the same as you would anywhere else.
